WHO WE ARE

We’re Josh and Karey—husband and wife, project manager and designer, and the duo behind JAK Home Design. What began as a pipe dream has grown into a fast-moving, ever-evolving business rooted in passion, creativity, and connection.

Rewind five years: we were both immersed in corporate life, with the idea of going out on our own feeling equal parts exciting and terrifying. But then life shifted. The birth of our second child and the culture shock of COVID pushed us to re-evaluate everything. We took a leap—starting small by partnering with an investor on a local flip. And that was it. We were hooked.

Fortunately, so was the community. A following quickly formed, with homebuyers eager to see what we’d do next. From that momentum, JAK Home Design was born. Our mission has always been simple: to connect with our clients and create homes that reflect who they are—spaces that feel as good as they look.

    DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Josh was born and raised in South Florida and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Finance. He always had a passion for architecture, design, and construction, and grew up helping the family real estate business flip properties while he was in high school. After college, Josh found his way back into the construction industry, where he spent 8 years working for large commercial General Contractors. His work in construction cost estimating and project management for various hotels, apartments, convention centers, and theme park attractions has provided the knowledge and experience to confidently help homeowners and investors alike, with projects of all shapes and sizes. Josh loves making an old space feel new again, and the challenge of taking a blank canvas and turning it into something that any client would be proud to show off.

    LEAD DESIGNER / REALTOR

Hi! I’m Karey and I am the other half of JAK Home Design. While Josh handles the client relations and construction-aspect of the business, I manage both the designs and the business itself. I grew up in Orlando and graduated from FSU with a Masters in Accounting. After serving large, multinational corporations for nearly 10 years in the public accounting industry, I decided it was time to leave the corporate world. I had just had our second child and knew I wanted more. Prior to becoming a CPA, I studied interior design for several years and often joke that I somehow "lost my way" when I ended up as an accountant. But thanks to some serious soul searching and an amazingly motivational group of family and friends, I'm finally back on track! In addition to our growing renovation business, I'm also an active real estate agent and aim to open my own brokerage in the near future, expanding on the services that JAK is able to offer our clients.

When I’m not agonizing over design details, you can usually find me in the car, driving around town between various extracurriculars with our kids. We love family game nights, golf cart rides, and boat days with our dog, Moose. And when I do get some (rare) alone time, I love a good crime drama with a glass of wine. But my absolute FAVORITE pasttime … moving décor around my house like I’m playing musical chairs. Practice makes perfect, right?!

Let’s talk about
your project.
